Sometimes it’s just not practical to get a regular shot – take the one below. I was inside the Islington Tunnel on the Regent’s Canal Arm of the Grand Union in London. At 960 yards long and unlit, it’s pretty dark in the middle. I couldn’t take a regular shot, and I couldn’t setup a tripod, and once in the tunnel, you have to keep moving!
So I braced myself against the side of the boat as best I could, set a long exposure and voila – here’s the result (after a little tweaking in Lightroom – that was not the true colour as seen on the day)
So next time you’re faced with a situation where perhaps you can’t take the shot you want, think about doing something a bit different.
